Escambia County Florida

Okaloosa County lies adjacent to Covington County and Escambia County in Alabama and Walton County and Santa Rosa County in Florida.Okaloosa County was founded on July 21, 1821. It was named after the Escambia River which flows from Union Springs in Alabama down to Escambia Bay. Until it flows through Florida, it is known as the Conecuh River.

Okaloosa County is home to part of the Gulf Islands National Seashore and part of the Choctawhatchee National Forest.

The county seat of Okaloosa County is Crestview, which is a city located on the peak of a long woodland range between the Yellow and Shoal Rivers. It was this location which led to the name of Crestview.
